One thing that cannot be denied is that the Ancient Romans certainly knew how to put on a show. The Empire was filled with amphitheatres and circuses designed to entertain and distract the citizens, the biggest of these being the Colosseum in Rome. When you think of the Colosseum, you think of the gladiators and whilst they were an important part of the spectacles, they certainly were not the only part of the entertainment. The Ancient Romans were in fact a civilised bunch and bloodshed and killing weren’t the only things on their mind. So, what else made up the entertainment?
