LA TAVERNA DEI FORI IMPERIALE: This a local favorite in Monti when you’re in the mood for excellent food and wine, and willing to spend a bit more than usual (compared to international standards the prices aren’t that high, think €14 for a plate of pasta). The starters are uniquely delicious, the pastas can’t be beat and the main dishes are absolutely divine. Make sure to get a bottle of wine, if you’re not sure about Italian wine just ask the waiter.

4. RISTORANTE TEMPIO D’ISIDE: This place is a seafood lover’s dream and a definite must-try if you have the budget. With the freshest of ingredients, the antipasto crudo is out of this world and the pasta dishes are absolutely incredible - think spaghetti al riccio, sea-urchin spaghetti. The second dishes, based on what is fresh from the market, are never the same but always delicious.
