Visit Castel Gandolfo and kayak on the lake. Taking the train to the small hilltop community of Castel Gandolfo is a quick but exciting adventure for the family. This is the summer residence of the popes and there is a main square with cafes and gelaterias. Below is Lake Albano, a quick hike down and there are kayaks for hire on the shore from the Canoa Kayak Academy. It is also possible to hike the perimeter of the lake.

Learn and have fun at the Explora Kid’s Museum. This non-profit, privately owned museum is dedicated to children and families. Apart from the main exhibition hall there is a green space with playgrounds, kitchen for food workshops, cafeteria, restaurant and parking.
